caroline in ft. lauderdale
Posted by mareadyphotography in fashion, lifestyle on March 9, 2012
whilst caroline and i were shooting in ft. lauderdale we met a guy named kevin. he looked like jeff goldblum and was an auto mechanic genius. the guy was just happy about life and about what he was doing. he just seemed happy. he wasn’t a movie star, he wasn’t mega-rich – but he was happy. i told caroline that in my mind that guy won at life. seems like i get so caught up in trying to constantly progress that after my accomplishments i never really take time to be content with what i’ve done. and while my relentless pursuit of doing bigger and better things will never stop – it’s nice to have things put into perspective every now and again. even though i’m looking into the future, i can still be happy with the present. thanks, kevin goldblum.
caroline has good reason to be happy. she’s not only smart as a whip, but she’s fairly easy to look at. you can see more of caroline HERE.

one time i won a female beauty contest for dudes in high school. Â the whole school met in the gym and all the dudes in the contest wore miniskirts, short dresses, wigs and jammed their hairy man-feet into little high heel shoes. Â the contest was judged on appearance and talent. Â i’ll never forget how one of the dudes’ talent was dancing – and his skirt was so short that when he did the infamous white-person “one hand on the neck, one in the air while thrustin the hips” dance, his tighty whiteys barely kept his man-pieces from flogging the audience in the first row. Â almost everybody’s strategy was to get as slutty as possible with massively stuffed boobs and hooker makeup that looked like it was smeared on with a cheap 4 inch paint brush. Â but see – that’s where i had the advantage; i went for a little sexy sophistication. Â my makeup was moderate and my boobs were average, but what sealed the deal was my talent. Â my talent was juggling. Â i started juggling and after a few seconds dropped all of the bean bags i was using. Â “oops!” i said with my hand over my mouth. Â then i turned around and slowly bent over to pick them up. Â the crowd went bananas – totally nailed it. Â see, that’s class right there, people. Â that’s how you win female beauty contests whilst maintaining your integrity. Â nowadays i’m sure cross-dressing beauty contests and gender bender days in school are long gone. Â people can’t handle that stuff anymore. Â there’d be harassment lawsuits, emotional distress, people crying and passing out and it’d end up on the front page of every news blog. Â people are way too PC to have fun anymore. Â but back then it was fun – and i was queen for a day. Â and i made it look good.

while we were shooting the first look, i asked asa (pronounced “asha”) if she would sing while i shot. Â she was quiet and a little shy, so i figured puttin her in her element might help her feel more comfortable. Â the second she started her song, everyone in the studio froze in their tracks like they were playing red light/green light, completely mesmerized. Â she has THAT kind of voice. Â i got some great pictures – and she got a new fan.
HERE is the piece on the MTV Iggy website.
here are a couple of my favorite asa songs:

samuel adams always thought running for fun was ridiculous. Â unless he was late or being chased by someone with a knife – he was walking. Â but one fine day he got inspired by steve prefontaine’s amazing story and laced up his sneakers. Â that’s all it took. Â he’s been hooked ever since and now sam wants to stir inspiration in everyone else who thinks they’ll never run strictly for recreation. Â sam looks a lot like pre to begin with, so he grew a sweet handlebar stache and we shot some pictures to capture the spirit of pre’s devotion to running. Â i have to say that i’m on the “lateness and knives” program, but after hanging with sam and hearing his story it got me thinkin about hittin the pavement myself. Â if you’d like some motivation to use your getaway sticks, sam will be holding meet-ups, races, fun runs and other cool stuff. Â check out his site: www.preliveson.com.

anna went on some kind of body cleansing detox to leach the toxins out of her body.  it subsequently leached all of the energy out of her body – so we kept the shoot at a slow pace so she wouldn’t pass out.  anna makes almost passing out look awesome.

pei pei lin is an actress – but she’d have a hard time acting like someone who didn’t have a killer body.
